Hello everyone!
Year 2018 is almost over and Year 2019 is waiting! Now, it’s the time to vote for ‘The Best Korean Drama of 2018’. As a Korean Drama’s fan, you have the right to vote. This year, you can choose all Korean Drama showed in year 2018 in ‘The Nomination Round’ which will run from 2018-Nov-13, 10:00KST to 2018-Nov-30, 23:59KST.
As promised, I'm back with another
list, and this time I'm counting down
my top 10 actresses I've seen this
year and the characters they played.
But before I get to them, here
are a few honorable mentions:
Kim So-Hyun
(Radio Romance)
Gong Seung-Yeon
(Are You Human Too?)
Kim Yoo-Jung
(Clean With Passion For Now)
Jo Bo-Ah
(My Strange Hero)
Song Hye-Kyo
(Boyfriend)
Park Shin-Hye
(Memories of the Alhambra)
Alright, let's get to the list!
:star: ☆ :star:
LSK is one of those actresses I
just like in any role. I've missed
her since WFKBJ and was happy
when I heard she would be in a
drama this year. Although About
Time was disappointing, her act-
ing wasn't. Let's talk about her role.
role: Choi Mi-Ka
drama: About Time
Mi-Ka has a special ability of
seeing how much time people
have left. She knows she will
die soon, so she's chasing her
dream of being in a musical
as her last wish.
Lee Sung-Kyung got to show
off her amazing vocals and
I'm glad they didn't cast an idol
which seemed like an obvious
move but could've been a fail.
With her voice and acting tale-
nt LSK was the perfect choice.
I wish I could put her higher on
the list, but overall her drama
wasn't that memorable. Maybe
next year she'll choose better.
:star: ☆ :star:
I've seen SHS in a few supporting
roles and although she did a good
job, I wasn't convinced she was
leading lady material. Well, she did
land a lead role and after watching
her drama I have changed my mind.
role: Woo Seo-Ri
drama: 30 But 17
After 13 years of being in a coma,
Woo Seo-Ri wakes up as a 30 yo.
Abandoned by her relatives, she's
taken in by people who bought her
old house until she finds her family.
Shin Hye-Sun was spot-on playing
a teenager trapped in a grown-up's
body, but was also great with emo-
tional and comedic scenes. I also
loved her chemistry with Se-Jong.
Hopefully I'll get to see her in anoth-
er lead role 'cause she deserves it.
:star: ☆ :star:
I've seen KTR in the movie The Ha-
ndmaiden and I was seriously im-
pressed with her acting. Needless
to say, I had high hopes for her dra-
ma debut and thankfully she lived
up to my expectations.
role: Go Ae-Shin
drama: Mr. Sunshine
Ae-Shin is a noblewoman who
doesn't care about her status and
doesn't want to conform to soci-
ty's rules. She's a skilled sniper
who's prepared to fight for her
country during difficult times.
These type of strong leads are my
favorite and Kim Tae-Ri is the per-
fect actress for those types of ro-
les. While Mr. Sunshine is another
drama that disappointed me and I
put it on hold, none of it is due to
KTR or her character. I was serio-
usly impressed and can't wait to
see her in another drama, perhaps
a contemporary one for a change.

It's been so long, 4 years I think,
since I've seen Son Ye-Jin in a
drama. She mostly stars in movi-
es, so when I heard she signed
up for a drama this year, I couldn't
miss it. So let's talk about it.
role: Yoon Jin-Ah
drama: Something in the Rain
She's a 35 yo office worker who
falls in love with her best friend's
younger brother. I feel like she is
a very realistic character with re-
alistic flaws. She's very mature
and rational, as well as willing to
stand against sexual harassment
at work.
Son Ye-Jin's acting was so differe-
nt from her acting in the other dra-
ma I've seen her in and now I truly
understand why she's one of the
most respected actresses in Korea.
:star: ☆ :star:
Like Son Ye-Jin, I've also only se-
en Lim Soo-Hyang in one drama a
long time ago, but unlike SYJ, I
didn't remember her at all since
she played a cookie cutter 2nd lead.
However, this time she left a good
impression as a lead actress.
role: Kang Mi-Rae
drama: My ID is Gangnam Beauty
Kang Mi-Rae has been bullied all
her life because she was consi-
dered 'ugly'. After she graduates
high school she gets plastic surge-
ry and get a fresh start at university.
Though I did really like Soo-Hyang's
acting and portrayal of Mi-Rae, the
reason she's this high on the list is
the bravery it took to choose this role.
It couldn't have been easy playing a
'plastic monster' in a judgemental so-
ciety with scary netizens. I think her
own plastic procedures were brought
up, but she didn't let it daunt her. Plus,
her dance routine was a banger.
:star: ☆ :star:
This past year or so I've come to re-
ally like Chae Soo-Bin and I loved
her newest drama, so it was a given
she would be on this list.
role: Han Yeo-Reum
drama: Where Stars Land
Han Yeo-Reum is an airport emplo-
yee trying hard to prove herself to
her superiors. She falls in love with
her coworker who just wants to
stay unnoticed.
First I'd like to say I don't get why
some people found Yeo-Reum anno-
ying at the start. I perfectly under-
stood her actions and motivations,
and I could relate to her a lot. Soo-
Bin has a very expressive face and I
really enjoy her in emotional scenes.
She's a well-rounded actress and I'm
looking forward to her next project.
:star: ☆ :star:
This year I got to see Jung So-Min
for the 3rd time and I think (at lea-
st from what I've seen) that this
was her most ambitious role yet.
role: Yoo Jin-Kang
drama: The Smile Has Left Your Eyes
Jin-Kang is a logo designer who
enters into a complicated relatio-
ship with the murder suspect of
a case her brother's investigating.
I can't say much without delving
into spoiler territory, but her acting
was phenomenal. She showed a lot
more range than I've previously seen
and gave a realistic and strong per-
formance. I won't be surprised if she
(and Seo In-Guk) snag an award or 2.
:star: ☆ :star:
PMY is one of my OG queens and
my 2nd favorite actress overall. She
always brings her a-game so there's
no escaping her on my top list.
role: Kim Mi-So
drama: What's Wrong
With Secretary Kim?
Kim Mi-So works as a secretary of
the VP of a large company but she
realizes she wants more out of life,
so she quits out of the blue, leaving
her boss desperate to keep her.
I've waited so freakin' long to see my
girl in another rom-com and she ble-
ssed me by making my dream couple
become reality. Not only that, but I lo-
ved her kind and capable character.
The amazing chemistry just puts the
cherry on top of this wonderful gift.
:star: ☆ :star:
I'm a huge fan of Seo Ye-Ji and I
always had a feeling she was de-
stined for greatnees. If she hadn't
convinced you with Save Me, I'm
sure she did with this role.
role: Ha Jae-Yi
drama: Lawless Lawyer
Jae-Yi is a lawyer who's just and
has integrity, but doesn't have pa-
tience for people abusing power.
She joins forces with another lawyer
to take down a corrupted group.
What a badass character. Another
great example of my favorite type
of female leads. She's strong and
independent but also a great team
player. Pair that up with Seo Ye-Ji's
talent and you got yourself one of
the most memorable pperforman-
ces of this year.
:star: ☆ :star:
And finally, my favorite actress of 2018:
Preaise  the  queen
It's with good reason SHJ is one
of my favorite actresses. She si-
mply turns everything she touches
into gold, and she slays in every
role, this being no exception.
role: Han Se-Gye
drama: The Beauty Inside
Han Se-Gye is a top star actress
who changes appearance for a
week every month and falls in
love with a man who can't disti-
nguish faces but can recognize her.
Se-Gye was a well-written three-
dimensional character whom
I've come to admire. On one hand
she's sharp and guarded, but deep
down she's truly a kind and caring
person. Seo Hyun-Jin nailed this
role and had amazing chemistry
with ALL of the cast, not just with
Lee Min-Ki (but definite fireworks
with him). All in all, I believe she
shined the brightest in 2018.
:star: ☆ :star:
Finally, this is the end of the blog.
Do you agree with my list? Who
were your favorites this year?
Thank you so much for reading.
Until next time, annyeong! ^^
p.s. I'm wishing a Merry Christmas
to all those that celebrate it. :christmas_tree:
Perhaps the discrepancy is smaller because actresses have more roles on the small screen, leading to more opportunities for lucrative gigs. According to GLAAD's annual Where We Are on TV report, 43% of regular characters counted on broadcast prime-time television are women. That is still a severe underrepresentation of the U.S. population, which is estimated to be 51% women. But the figures are far worse on the big screen: In the 100 most popular movies of 2017, just 31.8% of all speaking characters were female, according to a 2018 report from the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

'>Sofia Vergara is the top-earning TV star of any genre, banking $42.5 million between June 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018.
Small-screen stars make big bucks: Just take a look at Sofia Vergara, who banked $42.5 million in our scoring period, earning more than any other actor or actress on TV.
In fact, Vergara banked $16 million more than the next top earner across genders, Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons ($26.5 million).
Relative to movies, where male stars frequently pocket many times more than their female counterparts, TV has a far smaller gap between actors and actresses, at least among top earners.
The 10 highest-earning TV actresses banked a cumulative $168.5 million to the actors' $181 million. Compare that with movies, where the 10 highest-paid film actresses together pocketed $186 million — just a quarter of the actors' $748.5 million.
